Navzar Eranee

Director, Founder at Walkabout Films, Co-Founder at IncInk Records

Navzar Eranee was born in Mumbai in 1985. An Air India baby, as both his parents were flying for the airline when they met. In the early 70's to the late 90's his parents were exposed to a world outside our shores, before the age of the Internet hit India. Being flying parents, they saw a world that they loved, and they practised living on both sides of the coin, within India and outside. Often having no ground rules, Navzar and his brother Farzan would find themselves less bound. A good beating was in order now and then, but nothing they didn't deserve. Navzar maintains that his discipline comes from sport. He truly excelled on the tracks and the courts of his school, at the state and national level. Since injuries took their toll on him, he discovered an inner poet through romance and began the practice of writing. Poetry led to insights that led to narratives and eventually to his interest in films. He started at Genesis Films and then moved through three features and a short film, with Mani Ratnam, Ashok Mehta and Mira Nair - people he admired. Time is his greatest commodity, he thought, so investing it well was of great importance. He then continued to the shortest format in advertising. Eleven years and 100 commercials later, one would say that he overstayed his welcome as an assistant.
